SUPERIOR EARLY COLT WELLS FARGO MODEL 1849 POCKET REVOLVER. .31 cal. 5 shot with 3” barrel with early 2 line “ADDRESS SAML. COLT” barrel address. Desirable small trigger guard model serial numbered in the 59,xxx range and all original and matching. Manufactured in 1853 and popular in the “Gold Rush” era and California in particular. Made without loading lever and produced only in specific serial ranges with the early small guard models the most sought after. Fine overall with excellent markings including the “Stagecoach Holdup” cylinder scene. Some traces of blue evenly mixed with patina on the barrel with the cylinder and frame a deep grey patina. Brass back strap and trigger guard with 50% plus original silver. Walnut grips with most of the original factory piano finish. Fine bore and chambers and in working order. Very scarce with only about 500 small guard Wells Fargo’s made.
