CIVIL WAR REMINGTON U.S. NEW MODEL .44 CAL. PERCUSSION ARMY REVOLVER. 6 shot with 8” octagon barrel having the “PATENTED SEPPT. 14, 1858/ E. REMINGTON & SONS, ILION, NEW YORK, U.S.A.”. Early serial number in the 5x,xxx range manufactured in 1863. Very good to fine overall with nice even blue and plum patina mixed evenly. Nice markings with all major parts with Government sub-inspection marks (W) and a crisp “OWA” grip cartouche U.S. Government Sub-inspector O.W. Ainsworth. Left grip flat with brass inlay in the form of a reaping hook. Excellent bore and chambers.
