JOSLYN U.S.N. PERCUSSION .44 CAL. REVOLVER. SERIAL #340. 5 shot single action revolver with 8” octagon barrel. Only 100 made under contract to the United States Navy at the beginning of the Civil War and delivered Oct. 1, 1861. THESE WERE NUMBERED IN THE 300-400 SERIAL RANGE AND THIS ONE IS NUMBER 340. All original and matching and in good to very good condition. Stamped “U S N” on the butt strap and barrel with the “B.F. JOSLYN/PATD. MAY, 4, 1858” barrel address. Serial numbered “340”on the lever and the underside of the trigger guard. 100% original in every respect with all the markings and numbers absolutely original. Fine old dark original patina with traces of blue. Grips straps slightly bent and grips offset as a result and no longer fit properly. Grips with wear and right flat with hairline crack. Certainly restorable by a good gunsmith. Working order. Believed found many years ago in the Washington, D.C. Navy Yard. SOLD Antique: Yes |
