Original as issued during the Civil War with no post war alterations. All matching serial numbers in the 15,xxx range. Complete and original and in very good plus to fine condition. Plum blue and even patina on the barrel and some minor silvery case hardening on the frame. Excellent marking with perfect 1860 patent date and “SPENCER REPEATING RIFLE CO., BOSTON, MASS.” Address on the frame. Rally nice metal finish in general. Even has excellent screws with some blue. Working order and excellent 6 groove rifling. Stock and forend with the original finish and a good cartouche on the stock wrist. Stock with minor age hairline behind the ring bar and forend with small hard to see repair at the frame. Really nice example of the very hard to fine unaltered Civil War Spencer. SOLD Antique: Yes |
