Description:
Serial #2871, .44-40 (.44 WCF), 3 1/2” barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a splendid revolver that has retained 97-98% of the original nickel finish with only some very minor specks of freckling on the underside of the frame and, more noticeably, on both sides of the beaked portion of the bird's head grip. The frame, cylinder, barrel, and checkered hard rubber grips have matching assembly numbers (“3002”), and the hammer and trigger guard bow retain 90-95% of their original color case-hardening that has vivid colors with a small amount of freckling on the edges and on the hammer spur. The fit and mechanics of the gun are excellent: solid, without any play or rattling, and the lock-up and timing are like new. The revolver was purchased out of the renowned collection of Hank Williams Jr., and is an excellent, almost pristine example of a desirable Merwin, Hulbert & Co. Pocket Army. {Ref: “The Story of Merwin, Hulbert & Co.” by Art Phelps; 1992} Antique
