15-28 MODEL 1819 FLINTLOCK PISTOL BY SIMEON NORTH
15-28 Model 1819 Flintlock Pistol by Simeon North made for the US Government. Has iron mountings, back strap, butt cap, etc. Marked North Middnconn over an eagle on lock. Dated 1822 on back of lock, eagle present, but a little feint 10” Barrel has standard US Government proof markings US P JD. Wood has standard cartouche marking on left side of stock behind side plate. This is the only U.S. martial pistol with a sliding safety bolt which locks the hammer at half cock. It is working and is a unique feature of this model. Wood is clean with only a few dents and dings and one hairline age crack in grip, stock is missing one tiny sliver to left of muzzle. Metal is fairly clean with a little corrosion on Barrel. Overall very good condition. See Flaydermen 6A-017 page 328 ninth edition. (15-28)
