Both the metal ( finished in what appears to be a light blue) and the nicely checkered walnut grip are in excellent condition. This well made pistol has been well cared for and has seen little use. The gun makers name,, "J. Beattie , 223" , is engraved on the right side of the hammer , while on the left side his location " Regency St., London" appears. His actual address was 205 Regency Street. The caliber is .44, the fluted barrels are 3 & 1/2 " while the overall length of the pistol is 8 & 1/2'. There are several British Crown proof marks. The pistol was made sometime between 1835 and 1865. There is quite a bit of engraving, an unmarked escutcheon (name plate) on the grip with some carving around it. There is a cap box in the bottom of the grip. Everything works properly as designed. except for the safety which is all there but does not prevent the hammer from falling when the trigger is pulled. There are no splits, cracks or missing pieces in the grip.. One of the best pepperboxes I have seen. Antique- No FFL required. Can be shipped directly to the buyer. In addition to its beauty, antiques ln this kind of condition have proven to be good investments. NOTE: PRICE REDUCED ! SOLD Antique: Yes Manufacturer: J.
