Description:
A nice boxlock type percussion pistol made in Belgium with a heavy all brass  4 & 1/2" blunderbus type  barrel. The overall length of this fine pistol is 9". The well recognized Belgian proof mark ( ELG in an oval) can be found on the left side of the lock. There is engraving on both sides of the lock and on the trigger guard. The hammer, trigger, trigger guard and ramrod are all blued with a lot of color remaining. The metal parts have only minor dings  and are  all in very good + condition. The wood grip is nicely grained and has  only a few minor dings with no splits, cracks, or wood missing.  Made in Belgium circa 1850. A really nice piece. Hard to find a blunderbus pistol especially in this condition.

These pistols were typically used aboard sailing ships to repel boarders (pirates). They acted like a hand held shotgun, fireing a spray of shot to knock down several people at a time.An antique.  Brass was used as it doesn't rust. No FFL required. Can be shipped directly to a new proud owner. Antiques by the way, have historically been very good  investments. They don't make them anymore
