In gold is number 1 on one gun and number 2 on the other. Also in gold on the locks are "Cognier Compagnat A. Strasbourg". This marking is also on top of the bbls. Pretty good size pistols with overall length of about 16". Cal 52. These are the early style with very tight multi rifling which are quite deep. Bore cond is very good. Just a few light pits and scattered roughness. Very tasteful engraving on the lockplates and hammer. Nice smooth metal that is mostly a silver color. Engraving continues on the top tang and onto the bbl. Bbls are blue with about 75% on the one gun and just a bit less on the other. Deep relief engraving on the stocks towards the forearm portion. Rather deep purchase grooves are on the hand grip. The grips are capped with very ornate likely German silver cap. The elegant case matches the guns well. Inside the case is a full set of tools. The case is in very good cond and exhibits a light refinish. Another interesting point with this set is an old card that was from some French gun dealer. If you like high quality and something a little different this is the perfect set of pistols for you.
