Description:
This percussion shotgun is approximately a 7 bore weighing in at 14 lbs. The bbls are just under 3' long. The only marking is on the rib "Fine Twist". There is no other markings visible. Typical European engraving on the lock plates and also on the upper and lower tangs. The metal is a deep antique brown patina and is nice and smooth. Overall bore cond would be in the good range with light to medium scattered pitting and some roughness,. Action works very well with good springs on hammers and triggers. The safety notch does not hold on the right hand side but in a cocked position everything works very well. Surprisingly the wood is in very good cond and is nice fitting to the locks and both tangs. A bit of age shrinkage to the buttplate. These big bore shotguns are rather hard to come by and this is a pretty good example.
