Sold as a pair only is a brace of Kentucky long rifles each in 45.caL. EACH RIFLE IS CUSTOM MADE IN HIGH GRADE CURLY MAPLE WOOD, carved and inlayed with brass and silver and measuring just about 58" OAL and both with 42" barrels. THESE RIFLES ARE TRULY ART WORK!
The percussion rifle barrel is marked "C. Kemper" and W.M. Large, it has 13 inlays including a running buck in silver and a fancy patchbox. All parts are engraved including the "man in the moon" Kempers trade mark and the "weeping hearts". Double set triggers, full engraved trigger guard, spine and hidden button to the brass butt plate.OUTSTANDING curly Maple from one end to the other.
The Flint rifle barrel is marked "C.Kemper" Model 1860 is 42 " with the rifle at about 58"OAL it has 18 inlays plus the beautiful eagle patchbox.This rifle has "fish inlays and again amazing wood in the Berks County style. BOTH rifles were made for a man by the name of M.L. Heckler in the earl 1970's. This information I received from Cornells son Marvin Kemper who is a famous long rifle maker in his own right. These guns have never been fired to my knowledge and I have owned them for 30 years. I have other photos available at your request.
