Description:
Serial #145084 (Colt #296065), .45 ACP, 5 1/2” barrel with a very good, bright bore that has some mild freckling within the grooves. This is a very late production revolver that has 85-90% of the original brushed blue finish remaining with crisp and clear factory and U.S. markings. Some mild silvering is present at the muzzle with sparse, even freckling on the surface along the sides of the frame and barrel. Additionally, the cylinder has silvering around the chamber flutes and a few spots of minor pitting along the surface. The hammer and trigger have light freckling throughout with traces of the original blue remaining, and the “feathering” of the blue is still clear and robust at the base of the front sight blade. The walnut grips are numbered to the gun in pencil on the interior and are in good-very good shape with minor scattered handling marks and small blemishes on both panels, and extensive rounding and wear at the butt. The revolver is housed in an original G&K-made, 1917 dated, “US” leather holster that has very little crazing or flaking, is still supple and intact, and also comes with an original enlisted cavalry/artillery canvaspistol belt (with riveted sword/saber hanger loop on the bottom edge), and a vertical, triple pocket ammunition pouch. This is a very nice looking Colt Model 1917 that comes with a spectacular amount of period accessories. FFL or C&R
