Description:
An early Colt built in 1882. Nickel finish. Cal 44-40. Comes with Colt Letter that states "Finish Soft". A soft finish means that it left the factory without final finishing and normally to be engraved outside of the factory. No doubt this one was. The interesting part is that this engraving is certainly Nimschke's style but no provenance to show that. It is quite likely Nimschke's work. Most of the finish remains on the 7-1/2" bbl. Some light wear and light areas of freckling and flaking but overall VG cond metal. Some light roughness in an otherwise VG bore. Ivory grips in very nice condition. This gun comes with a Factory Letter and other info. A beautiful Colt!
