Sharps New Model 1859 Civil War Carbine 52” Caliber. Brass furniture. 22” BBL., 39” overall length. Marking clear, markings on BBL. Sharps Manufacture Co. /Hartford, Conn. Right side of lock:
R.S. Lawrence pat. April 12, 1859 C. Sharps Pat. /Oct. 5, 1852. Metal markings are all very readable
Walnut stock with oil finish. Serial 31884 very early, only 3,000 out of 115,000 had brass patch box and barrel band, the early ones were issued and used. Numbers for 1859 model start at about 30,000.
 
Condition: Barrel, has light corrosion, BBL. Band and patch box are brass. Frame has some corrosion,
case hardening mostly grey/silver/brown. Wood has some dents, and dings etc. Bore has 70-80% rifling
and some corrosion in the bore or chamber. Works fine mechanically. Is very good condition overall;
original sharps civil war carbine. (15-75) $3400.00
