Description:
Up for sale is a German pre-war SxS 16 gauge.  It is simply a beautiful example of very high quality work.  This gun has been researched by a shotgun appraiser, who noted the following:
"It has been re-stocked, as you were aware. The trigger guard is original and is made of horn. It was made prior to 1968, as that was the last year that barrels were marked Krupp steel. It appears to have extractors and not automatic ejectors. It is a Bissell rising bite style action, which was expensive to manufacture. It has a scalloped receiver, which was also costly to produce. It has cocking indicators for each barrel and a Deeley style release forearm.  The Crown over W proof is a German choked barrel proof mark that was used from 1891-1939.  The S under Crown is a German shotgun proof mark used from 1891-1939.  The "K" proof mark is an ordnance code assigned to Firma Luch & Wagner in Suhl, Germany.  The Crown over U proof mark is a German Definitive proof mark used from 1891-1939.  It was manufactured before 1939, obviously. It has steel barrels, which is very good.   The only detraction is that it has been re-stocked."

In addition, I took it to a smith who went through the gun.  His comments are as follows:
"Chambers are 2 5/8" instead of 2 3/4".  I believe this gun is worth a great deal of money and it would negatively affect the value to re-chamber for 2 3/4".  I spent over 10 hours on this gun - I drilled the set screw, retapped, and repaired the extractor and stoned the barrels and repolished.  This gun was hand-made, so replacement parts must be hand-fitted."

This gun is just beautiful and has high end parts, easily distinguishing it from the stock 'trade guns'.  I have over $5k invested in this gun, but am offering it for only $3k as I am just not a pre-war shotgun collector and would be afraid to use this gun as a hunting gun.

**Dropped to $2,000**  I REALLY want this gun to go to someone who knows antique German SXS's!!
