Description:
#4642 Model 1841 “Mississippi Rifle” Rifle, this being a composite made of original antique parts, but very few of those parts being from an original 1841. The stock and lock are from a Trapdoor Springfield, the barrel looks to be a standard 58-cal Civil War rifled-musket barrel altered to the Mississippi length and having a near smooth bore with very little of the original rifling remaining. The barrel bands are the correct type, but look to be brass plated and not solid brass as they should be; the brass patchbox being the one piece that DOES appear to be an original 1841 patchbox cover. It’s basically a nice looking gun and likely would be a good firearm for a Mexican War/Civil War re-inactor, or simply as an attractive wall-hanger. Nice wood, very good smooth metal with 70% coverage of an old blue job. About Fine as described. $595
