Description:
Serial #S8078, .22 LR, 25” barrel with a fine, bright bore that has a few hints of freckling within the grooves. This is an Enfield marked, 1917 dated SMLE rifle conversion that retains about 90-92% of an armory applied Suncorite finish that has spots of silvering plum-brown freckling and gray fading along the high edges where the Suncorite has either flaked or worn. The matching numbered bolt is in fine shape with a “U” marked bolt head with some further finish wear along the bearing surfaces. The stock and handguards have been arsenal refinished to fine condition with a matching serial number on the underside of the forend just behind the nosecap. An original magazine housing (minus the follower and spring) is present, and a period canvassling is installed.
