Beretta redesigned the SO guns in 1983 - the only obvious mechanical difference being the Locks. Effectively this was the transition from SO4 to SO5 and SO3 to SO6. However, Beretta didn't rename the guns until 1988. So, an SO3 built between 1983/4 and 1988, is actually an SO6 - same for SO4 to SO5.
