Springfield (Krag Jorgensen) Model 1896. Caliber .30-40, Serial Number 1674XX. Outstanding or remarkable is a modest way to describe this 97 year old beauty. It would be fair to say that the original blue remaining is at least 90-95%. The left side of the magazine box has become a little mottled. The trigger guard has toned towards a mild blue-gray. Then there is the usual, but slight sharp edge silvering. Other than isolated pin pricks there are no pits or rust anywhere. Even the barrel bands are extra nice. The bolt assembly, which is in the white, does have some small patches of scattered pin pricks. The fire blue on the extractor is also at least 95+%. The rear sight is complete with the hidden flip peep still intact. The sight's case colors have toned slightly. All parts are correct for this model "Krag" and function properly. The stock and handguard have darkened with age but have no splits, or chips. There is only one ding just below the rear sight on the right side. The pistol grip is stamped with a very small number 98, and the proper Circle P proof. The bore is great. The rifling is sharp and crisp with just a hint of graying. This Krag would be lovely in a collection or super on the range.....$1395
