Description:
Serial #3173130, .30-06, 24” barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This rifle was originally manufactured in August of 1944 and has an armory added, Korean War era “S-A-51” dated barrel. The metal retains 90-95% parkerizing with original finish on the receiver and mixed original and re-applied parkerizing on the component parts. There is some even fading on the gas tube as well as on the bearing surfaces of the “D28287-12SA” bolt and modified “6535382 SA” op-rod. Some mild fading is also present along the exposed edges and projections and there is a small scratched area on the floorplate just ahead of the stamped trigger guard. The trigger group and hammer are International Harvester marked. The walnut stock has a partial “B.A.” (Benicia Arsenal) rebuild cartouche and double “P” firing proof stamps on the pistol grip. The wood retains 90% plus of an arsenal-added military oil finish with numerous light handling marks and blemishes that carry over onto the matching finish handguards. A single surface chip is present on the underside of the forend at the front edge of the floor plate. This is a great post-war rebuilt Garand that is in fine plus condition overall. FFL or C&R
