This is an interesting pistol that chambers a fulminate-propelled bullet, very similar to the “Rocket Ball” used in Volcanic rifles and pistols. The pistol has a hinged breech that swings up and to the right with front-loading cavity, pierced at the bottom by a frame-mounted stabilizing pin that passes through a tapered hole. The barrel and breech-block retain 85-90% of their original bright blue finish with some mild fading at the muzzle and along the edges of the flats. The rectangular breech-block latch spring on the left side of the frame has some of its original bright fire blue remaining as well. The floral scroll engraved frame has an overall dark gray patina, but with some of the original vibrant color case-hardening still visible, mostly on the underside and on the faceted standing breech. The smooth bag-shaped grip is in fine shape with scattered small handling marks in the original varnish finish, slightly more noticeable on the left side and along the back of the grip itself. The hinged firing pin is no longer present on the hammer; this would've been a fairly long and fragile affair (much like those in needle-fire arms) and was quite prone to breakage. Because of this, the firing pin was easy to replace and was held by a fairly large screw on the left side of the hammer which is still present on this example. Also included is a single, extremely rare example of an original and unfired 9mm/.36 cal. Loron fulminate-propelled, conical bullet. This is a very interesting, handsome, and rare pistol, and would make a fantastic addition to any collection.
