Description:
Made by Lilley co. Columbus, Ohio C-1880. Sword made for "UNIFORMED RANK", a militaristic arm of the Knights of Pythias lodge.
Name on blade is--Lieut G.R. Smetts, Commasary, 2nd Battalion, 2nd Regiment URKP. George R Smetts was born in Acron, Ohio 1855 and died in Acron in 1933. Have no other info. on Smetts.
Workmanship is excellent. All brass on hilt is engraved.. Tiger head on hilt. Blade is etched with various designs, all well done. No rust or pitting on blade.
Scabbard is nickle plated with attached engraved brass plates. Scabbard in good cond, couple small patches of surface rust.
This sword is top of the line workmanship, and a welcome addition to any sword collection.
Includes two pages of info. on the Uniformed Rank and Knights of Pythias.
