Origionaly acquired by the German Wehrmacht; this piece shows all of the evidence of being one of the HP's as imported into Canada from Israel in the 1970's. The piece shows a good plus bore, the rifling with corrosion in the grooves, as would be expected. The barrel and block match with the barrel import marked on the underside. The barrel unit has been refinished, again typical of the batch out of Israel; the slide shows later applied finish on the body but not the small parts of the slide. The slide shows the correct German "Eagle. 359" mark and the original slide number "14229"; the right side shows the Israeli electric pencil # "11465". The frame, SN 11465, shows the original finish and the correct grooved plastic grips. This pistol falls in the correct serial range of the exports, see pages 134-135 of "The P-38 Pistol, Vol. I" by Buxton. A relatively clean example with only the slide mismatched, this pistol saw WWII and ironic post-War serivce in the foundation of Israel; quite a piece of history.
