A fine quality Turkish flintlock pistol, ca.1840,overall very good untouched flintlock condition.octaganal-to-round,wire band-fastined,.67 caliber,smoothbore,11 1/2" iron barrel with chisled floral scrolls, a raised sighting rib and an engraved barrel tang.Etched and engraved flintlock mechanism with a flat beveled,banana-form,lockplate with it's matching gooseneck hammer and grooved- face frissen of very good quality near eastern/Ottoman Turkish manufacture with generally sharp,untouched contours,fine engraving and some light wear.,The mechanism is frozen and will not realease from the rest position. Extensively carved walnutfull stock of typical ottoman form,having a pronounced bulbous butt and extensive flora/ vine scroll carving overall.Finely etched and embossed brass mounts of very good quality and in emulation of european style. Fine quality,dark colored Turkish walnut fullstock with light signs of use and some handling marks.The hardware,with fine attention to the etched and embossed details and taned brass surfaces with a rich "mustard" age -patina. * A very nice example of a nice Quality Turkish Flintlock Holster Pistol ca.1840 overall lenth 181/4"
