Description:
An English Military Tower Percussion pistol (original, not converted from flintlock) Model 1844. This is believed to be a Victorian Coast Guard Belt Pistol made with a short barrel designed for fighting at close range.  There  is a belt hook fixed to the left side. It has a 6" round barrel, finished  polished  bright steel in .58 caliber The overall size of the gun is 11". .The lock, hammer and trigger are blued with  60-75% blue remaining. There is a swivel landyard and a captive steel ramrod. The trigger guard, butt cap, etc. are all brass with a pleasing patina. The lock and hammer have  some modest engraving. The lock is marked "Tower 1844" with a Crown over "VR".There are 6 marks or proof marks on the barrel and one on the belt hook. The full stock has an interesting grain and no splits, cracks, chips or wood missing. There are a number of dings, presumeably  from its use as a military weapon. They tend to blend in with the wood grain and do not detract from the overall excellent appearance of the pistol.  The action is strong with the hammer also holding on 1/2 cock as a safety.

This pistol is believed to have been designed by the British Army's Inspector of Small Arms, a Mr. George Lovell.

This an antique. No FFL required. Can be shipped directly to a proud new owner.
