#4543 Enfield Model 1853 “Sergeants Carbine” (AKA, “Artillery Carbine), dated 1860, .577 caliber percussion and having what would probably best be described as looking like a freshly plowed field or a very old sewer pipe bore (if even THAT good!). Definitely this is NOT a “shooter”, and one could expect to see a family of gophers jumping out of the pits! Like many of this era of British weapons, this carbine is the type that was imported in great quantities to BOTH sides during the American Civil War ..and while there is not a shread of evidence to suggest that this gun could have been imported to the U.S. and Southern used, it is common knowledge that there were far more Enfields purchased by the Confederacy than there was by the North. Overall, the exterior shows medium to heavy usage and yet no serious abuse. About VG with the exception of the “black-hole” bore. $795
