#1529 H. Aston Model 1842 Percussion military pistol, 8-1/2” smoothbored barrel, 54caliber, w/swivel captive rammer. Approximently 24,000 of this model were produced between 1845-1850, with the earliest dated Astons being dated in 1846. This particular specimen is dated 1846 both on the rear of the lockplate and the top of the barrel breech, and therefore is not only the earliest possible date, but was also issued at the beginning of the Mexican War …and such early dated ones are the most highly sought after of this model. These Astons were still in high usage well into the beginnings of the American Civil War as well, so to find such a martial handgun in THIS nice of a condition is very, very, uncommon! The metal is Ex.Fine, the wood is Ex.Fine, and overall the entire firearm is Ex.Fine. $1495
