A total of 19374 were produced between 1817-1820, and this is a Fine+ specimen and definitely worthy of being included in an advanced military handgun collection. It has VERY nice metal with only very minor freckle light scattered pitting and staining with very good markings. It is fitted with a wood rammer, which appears to be the original rod that has the iron slotted wiper tip for cleaning the bore. The wood is far above average as well, just minor bumps and bruises from a 199 year life, being a military handgun during the period from 1817 and well into the late 1840s. Many were still in service as late as the Mexican War in 1846-1848. This will be a very hard and very early martial pistol to improve upon, so if you are a U.S. military collector, you will burn up a LOT of weekends and a lot of gas looking for another 1817 anywhere near this nice. About Fine+/Ex.Fine overall. $2795 SOLD Antique: Yes |
