This rifle was manufactured circa 1955 and has all H&R parts: 1954 dated barrel, “.U.” bolt, rear sight, modified op-rod, trigger group, hammer, and safety. The metal retains 92-95% mixed original and re-applied parkerizing with some faint pinprick pitting on the projecting edges of the receiver, some silvering at the muzzle, on the projections, on the bearing surfaces of the bolt, and inside the op-rod raceway. The walnut stock has a softened, but still discernible D.o.D. Eagle cartouche, has been glass-bedded and retains 90% plus of an arsenal-added military oil finish with some scattered light handling marks and blemishes that carry over onto the matching finish handguards. There are competition weights installed in the stock oiler compartments, capped with cork plugs, increasing the unloaded weight to just over 11 lbs. This is a great post-war H&R Garand that is in fine-excellent condition overall.
