This is Spanish-American War era carbine, and retains about 80-85% of the original blue on the barrel with silvering and gray on the muzzle, as well as some graying along the right side of the barrel with dark spots of freckling present in a few areas. The receiver has a mottled, smooth gray patina with a few scattereed specks of freckling, mostly on the rear of the magazine hump on the left side. The bolt has a fairly bright gray patina with darker freckling on the handle, and a few faint traces of the original fire blue still on the extractor spring. A correct, āCā marked Model 1896 rear sight is fitted behind the humped barrel band. The walnut stock has an armory added military oil finish over scattered light handling marks and minor surface blemishes. The left side of the wrist has a slightly dull area where the sling bar was removed, and no inspector cartouche is present. The mottled gray metal buttplate has numerous small marks and blemishes. This is a very nice Span-Am Krag carbine that is in about very good plus condition overall.
