Description:
Serial #782, .32 CF, 1 3/4" barrel with a fine bore that has some minor freckling within the grooves. This is a splendidly embellished, hammerless revolver that has intricate floral and abstract geometrical patterns in gold on a darkly blued background. While the revolver is marked with the post-1893 Liege proof no maker's name or trademark is visible. The right side of the revolver has extensive floral scrollwork vignettes along the bottom of the frame and on the cylinder crane, while the loading gate/cylinder release has finely rendered arabesque designs, some further scrollwork at the rear frame hump, and a repeating leaf or flower motif along the top of the barrel and on the topstrap. The left side has more extensive decoration which incorporates a stylized phoenix or dragon within the design above the safety lever. some fading of the blue has occured, mostly along the barrel, and there is some mild silvering and fading along the high and projecting edges. The checkered grips are original and rate excellent with only negligible surface wear. While these little hammerless revolvers are not uncommon, finding one with such high quality embellishments is very unusual indeed. This is an excellent example and would make a wonderful addition to any collection. FFL or C&R
