Description:
Serial #C.12860, .50-70, 22” barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This three groove carbine has 90-92% of the original blue remaining on the barrel which blends with a subtle, mellow plum-brown patina in spots along its length, as well as some very mild streaks of gray near and at the muzzle. The frame has about 75-80% of the original, bright color case-hardening remaining with the balance turned to a lightly mottled gray-brown patina, mostly on the underside of the frame. The sling bar and ring have a speckled, bright gray patina with a few scattered darker spots. The correct walnut buttstock without patchbox has crisp cartouches and scattered handling marks and blemishes in the original military oil finish with a few very minor surface chips at the butt. The walnut forend matches the condition of the buttstock and exhibits light handling marks and and bruises. The action lock-up is tight and functions flawlessly (the carbine was not used much, if at all). This is a splendid cartridge converted Sharps carbine in excellent overall condition with an exceptionally high degree of original finish remaining and an immaculate bore. Antique
