Description:
Serial #278, 6.35mm (.25 ACP), 2 1/2” barrels with very good barrels that have some dark freckling within the grooves. This is a rare, early 20th century, double barreled revolver that uses a unique 4-shot, flat “cylinder”. The folding trigger fires both barrels in succession and a manual stop on the topstrap allows the cylinder to be hand-rotated or removed for reloading. The removable ejector rod is still in place at the butt and the metal retains about 85-90% of the original dark, lustrous blue finish with spots of fading along the edges of the frame and the barrel flutes. Some mild surface flaking has occurred as well, and original straw color can still be seen on the cylinder latch. The European walnut grips are in fine shape with only minor handling marks and blemishes in the original oil finish. The mechanism is fully functional and the revolver rates excellent condition overall. These interesting handguns were made by J.P. Sauer & Sohn in limited quantities from 1899 – 1914 and purported to combine the reliability of a revolver with the thinness of an automatic. They were never very popular and it is unusual to find one today, let alone one as nice as this. FFL or C&R
