Description:
#4970 Colt S/A, 4-3/4”x45COLT, 88XXX (made in 1883) and having a VG+ bore (about a 7 to 8 on a scale of 10). Tight lock-up and in fine tune with all the “clicks” on the hammer. Decent smooth metal with just some minor scattered light pitting and having a nuetral patina, although the cylinder does have a drag-line from the cylinder stop being too long or out of time. It is fine now, but the line remains as evidence of that timing issue. It also does have some unknown mark stamped partially over the front portion of the patent dates and the number “11” stamped deeply on that left side just behind those patent dates; reasons unknown. It has VG screw heads, correct two-line barrel address, and VG markings. The one piece grips have very little wear and while they fit very well and look very good, I do believe them to be replaced grips. Overall, still a very decent little short-barreled .45 in slightly above average condition. $3150
