Description:
Inv. 5607 Colt U.S. Model 1911, Caliber .45 ACP, Serial Number 3198XX. A very nice example of the early 1918 Colt production. It has 85% of the original factory finish. Most of the loss is toning of the blue due to the flaking found on most WWII pistols. The sharp edges and muzzle have silvered from what looks like holster wear. The grips straps have grayed slightly, but there is no rust or pitting anywhere. All numbered parts match and all parts are proper for this serial number run. The left side of the frame is stamped with a correct proof, an upturned Eagle/S8. The walnut grips have the correct 17 diamonds between the double diamond grip screw bolsters. There are no chips or splits anywhere. The grips themselves show very little use. The bolt face and feed ramp also show only slight use. The barrel is also has the proper proof, a separated vertical H P stamp. The bore is really great with bright sharp rifling and just a slightest hint of graying. The gun comes with one correct WWI two tone magazine. A beautiful opportunity for the collector, re-enactor or an evening on the range. $3495.
