Extremely rare French made Verney Carron 12ga side by side shotgun. Serial number 1 (or 1 of a 2 gun set) with matching 86r assembly numbers. This is a rare sidelock (not the usual box lock) Verney Carron that is dated 1909 and has the finest level of scroll engraving, chopper lump barrels, gold crown inlay. The gold crest /H is linked to the House of Habsburg Austria (monarchs that ruled parts of Europe from about 1270 up to WW1). The shotgun has two nice shiny bores, with the right throat of the bore showing some deep pitting that would need attention. Beautifully grained stock that has had partial restoration. Action is tight, lever off center. 28" barrels choked Full/IMP CYL. A one of a kind Verney Carron 12ga sidelock made to the highest standards. Consignment. Asking price is $16,000
