In beautiful un-cleaned and untouched condition this 1850 dated Springfield U.S. Model 1842 percussion musket has been altered to musketoon for use by Confederate Cavalry and Mounted Artillery. 100% authentic and with all parts having a lovely dark, rich patina attesting to it’s authenticity. A huge demand for carbines and musketoons at the beginning of the war forced the Confederate states to alter muskets in inventory in state armories. These were usually smoothbore .69 caliber obsolete arms. These could easily be loaded with buck, ball of combination loads which were quite effective on horseback. SOLD Antique: Yes |
