Description:
Winchester 1886 rifle in .40-65. This rifle was made in 1893. It is a standard '86 of the timel, 26" octagon barrel, full length magazine tube, crescent steel butt, etc. It is 100% original with the metal showing an overall antique "browning" and the wood finish, although still there, has dulled over the last 122 years! Mechanically it is very sound and the action is smooth and strong. The bore is strong, the rifling prominent but there is some uniform "frosting" and a little pitting...very shootable. No cracks in the wood, in fact not even a significant "ding" or dent. Original sights. All in all a nice original example of an 86.
