Description:
Civil War  Starr SA 1863 Army Revolver  - US Martial - Cal. .44 - 8" Bbl. - SN 27997 (1863) - all matching on frame and cylinder.  Bore is excellent - bright and shiny with sharp rifling and only a couple areas of very light roughness.  Action is excellent with perfect timing and lock-up.  Metal is excellent overall with  sharp markings and shows no rust, pits, or corrosion - excellent nipples and screws.  Barrel retains about 90% blue with some thinning in spots - frame and cylinder have 75%  blue with some aeas of thinning - guard and backstrap  80% + blue.  Walnut grips are undamaged,  have only a few minor surface marks,  retain about 85% finish and show some minor shrinkage near the frame - cartouche on left grip is very faint, but is visible. Proper sub-inspectors marks on barrel, cylinder, frame and backstrap.  An exceptionally nice and fully functional old Starr 1863 SA Martial in Fine to Excellent condition that will make a super addition to a Civil War collection.  The Starr was the 3rd most common revolver used in the war and was preferred  by many cavalry units due to it's rugged construction and reliability -  also was a popular sidearm in the early West.
