Description:
Serial #90397, 9mm Para., 8” barrel with a fine, bright bore that has some minuscule specks of freckling within the grooves near the chamber mouth. This is an exceptionally rare post-World War I pistol that was made for commercial sale in the United States, and has both “LOADED” and “SAFE” markings along with the “GERMANY” stamp on the front of the frame. There are no proof markings on either barrel or receiver, which is correct for this variation. The metal retains 80-85% of the original commercial quality blue finish which has silvered along the high and projecting edges, as well as some mild freckling along the front 1/3 of the barrel. The sideplate (numbered “66”) has silvering on the edges mixing with a plum-brown patina as well. Most of the original straw color remains on the trigger, take-down lever, ejector, and safety (the only other numbered part “07”) which has spots of darker freckling. A military type 9-position rear sight is installed rather than the 10-position sight sometimes found. The checkered walnut grips have light-moderate wear and flattening of the points on both panels, heaviest on the right side, and there is a small chip missing under the safety lever. A single, unnumbered, wood-base magazine is included. This is a very nice example of an extremely desirable, commercial, American market Artillery Luger, and would make a splendid addition to any collection. FFL or C&R
