- Note: This is the Auto Ordnance clone of the 1911A1 as issued by the American Historical Foundation to commemorate the June 6th, 1944 D-Day invasion of Operation Overlord. The gun is beautifully executed with D-Day and Normandy inscriptions engraved with gold wash. The simulated ivory grips have laurel wreaths etched around each gold plated grip screw. The circular emblems inlaid in each grip panel have the inscription "D-Day 6 June, 1944" over "Operation Overlord" with the image of the Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force (SHAEF) shoulder patch in the center. Likewise, the gun is elegantly cased in a glass-fronted walnut case with commemorative placque and with service ribbon swatches adorning each corner.
