Description:
The quality and elegance of this Auguste Francotte 12 gauge Jubilee, model 14E, is reflected in its fine scroll engraving, beautiful chain Damascus barrels with gold inlay on the rib, relief engraved fences, Greener-type cross bolt, auto ejectors, and superb wood.  Weighing only 6 lbs 7 oz, it handles exceptionally well.  The 26” chain Damascus barrels, which have 2-3/4” chambers and are choked IM (.025)/IM (.025), are flawless.  The wall thickness (top/side/bottom) for the right barrel at 9” from muzzle is .028/.030/.034 and at the middle of the barrel is .032/.032/.038; the left barrel is .033/.035/.035 and .039/.038/.037, respectively.  Bores 9” from the breech are .733/.733 and the muzzle outside diameter .821/.823 respectively. The barrels are marked Von Lengerke and Detmold, Agents, New York.

The stock and forearm are made of fine European walnut.  The drop at the comb is 1-3/8” and at the heel 2-1/4”.  Length of pull from the front trigger to the end of the wood is 14-1/4”.  The gun locks up tight and on face; the top lever returns to the right of center.  All serial numbers, 1413, match.  To better preserve this fine gun for another century of use by hunters and shooters, the wood is refreshed and the barrels refinished.

The inspection period is 7 days from receipt.  The gun has been fired using low pressure 2-3/4” shells produced for Damascus-barreled shotguns by RST Corporation.  However, as for any antique or vintage shotgun, and especially one over a hundred and twenty years old, it is recommended that the new owner have it inspected by a professional gunsmith before firing and then only use shells that produce pressures for which the gun was designed.  The gun carries a 30-day warrantee, during which Back in Time will have any mechanical problems documented by a professional gunsmith repaired or accept the return of the gun and refund the price of the gun and the return shipping cost.  The price does not include original shipping costs, which are paid by buyer.  Please do not hesitate to call with questions Stephen Wesbrook, 703-625-4830; Back in Time, LLC --  preserving late 19th and early 20th Century double shotguns.
