Description:
Serial #56267, 11mm Mauser, 31" barrel with a fair, bright bore that has some mild freckling within the grooves and a shallow ring about 4" from the muzzle. This is an 1887 dated rifle that has about 60-70% of the original blue remaining on the barrel under an added coating of protective varnish and blending with lightly freckled plum-brown towards the breech and some minor pitting and mild oxidation at the muzzle. The receiver is finished in-the-white and has light freckling and mild pinprick pitting throughout which carries over onto the mis-matched bolt as well; darkest on the cocking-piece, and the middle barrel band is missing. The walnut stock also has a protective coat of varnish added over numerous small handling marks and minor blemishes including a repaired chip on the left side of the triggerguard tang and the military stamps are still relatively crisp on the buttstock. The rifle is mechanically fine and fully functional and rates good-near very good condition overall. Antique
