Description:
Offered here is a Second Model Winchester 1873 in 44-40. This is a special order rifle with a 26" round barrel with a full-length magazine tube and scarce shotgun butt plate. Complete with original sights. Original wood is in very good condition with a light coat of oil having been applied at some point, but not sanded or refinished. Metal has turned plum/brown patina with good traces of original finish in protected areas. The action is nice and crisp, and the bore rates an 8 on a scale of 1-10. Serial #85XXX was manufactured in 1882 per the Cody letter, which is included.
