Description:
A very handsome percussion pistol displaying quality from every angle. It was probably made in France around 1850. The beautifully grained full wood stock is nicely carved on both sides of the barrel, on the tang and the area forward of the trigger guard. There are impressive raised designs in the metal on the tang, top of the grip, which may be a family Coat Of Arms, on the plate opposite the hammer, and an exceptional design on the top of the barrel near the lock.The remains of gold inlay are still visible in many of these designs. There is a wood ramrod.. The hammer holds at full and half cock and the action is strong. The rifled barrel has a ring design at the tip and is approximately .65 caliber, and 9 and 1/2 inches long. All metal seems to be bright steel with some traces of blueing mostly on the trigger guard. There are front and rear sights. The overall length of this fine pistol is 15 inches. The name " A'Prion is inscribed on the lock ( it does not show in the pictures) and could be the makers name or possibly the family name of the original owner for whom it would have been custom made.
This is trully a fine piece. It is an antique so no FFL is required, it can be sent directly to a new proud owner.
