Description:
Colt Model 1877 "Lightning" DA Revolver - Cal. .38 - 3 1/2" Bbl.- ejectorless - also called "Sheriffs" model - SN 69XXX(1888) - all matching on frame, guard, butt, and cylinder. Bore is near perfect - bright and shiny with sharp, crisp rifling - action is excellent with perfect timing and lock-up in both DA and SA modes. Metal is excellent with no rust, pits, or corrosion and with sharp markings, very sharp barrel etching "COLT DA .38" - brilliant nitre blue on screw heads. The barrel retains 95% + blue - guard and back strap 95% , and the desireable long fluted cylinder 85% - 90% blue. About 80% + vivid case color remains on the frame. Hard rubber grips are nearly perfect with sharp, crisp checkering and logo and no visible signs of wear - ther is a very tiny, fine, and hard to see chip on the inside bottom of the right grip. This early "Lightning" is in exceptional condition with most all of the original finish. These short-barrelled, ejectorless DA Colts were very popular in the early West as they could easily be carried in a coat or vest pocket or shoulder holster. This "Lightning" is in Excellent + condition, all original, fully functional, and will make a fine collectible and investment. Very difficult to find with this much condition and finish.
