Description:
A nice little flintlock pistol, the kind that would be carried in a gentlemans pocket or in a ladies muff. It has a round .64 caliber  3 & 3/4 inch barrel  with 6 GOLD filled Triangles and 6 GOLD  bands on the top of  the barrel near the lock. There is also an engraved design in front of that. Probably made in  Colonial America in the mid to late 1700's. The overall length is 7 & 1/2 inches and there is a wood ramrod with a metal tip. The action works and the hammer holds on full and half cock. It has a full stock which is in good shape .

The side plate and finial indicate this was made by J.P. Beck. For reference see the volume by author Shumway  on Colonial Rifles, Volime 2, Illustration # 98. The decorations indicate this was made for Marine  service.

John Philip Beck made weapons from 1785 to 1811  and  was located in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. He primarily made Kentucy style flintlock rifles and  thereis one on display in Independence Hall in Philadelphia signed J.P. Beck, a flintlock Pennsylvania rifle inscribed " To the President George Washington,  AD 1791".

This is an antique, so no FFL is required. .It may be sent directly to the new owner.
