Description:

Sold Pending Funds 1/12/16

Ludwig Borovnik has been making fine shotguns and rifles in the Ferlach, Austria region since 1848. "Decades of experience, master craftsmen and the highest level of skills have enabled us to build shoothbore shotguns to absolute perfection and of striking beauty". Take a look at their for examples of the bespoke only guns they build for the likes of King Carlos of Spain.

This two barrel sidelock over/under shotgun is a fine example. Elegant but very tasteful engraving really sets this one apart. Two piece forend with each barrel having a dedicated upper. In a very nice canvas case that is likely the original. We believe the gun is from the 80's. Importer's name is stamped on the barrels as required.

The 30" barrels are choked B: .33(LF) and T: .38(F). The 28" barrels are choked B: .15(LM) and T: .22(M). The gun has a very nice field weight of 7.5 pounds.

Please note that the Ferlach gunbuilders do not always mark the guns with their names but use their serial numbers to identify the manufacturer. Such is the case with this gun as the serial number has the 40 prefix which is assigned to Borovnik.

This gun represents an exceptional value in a cased, two barrel, bespoke sidelock shotgun made by one of Austria's finest makers for only $8,750. An estimate of the replacement cost would be well north of $25,000.
