Description:
Serial #21136, 7.63mm (.30 Mauser), 5 1/2” barrel with a fine, bright bore that has some mild freckling within the grooves. This is a splendid pistol that has all matching numbers and retains 95-97% of the original factory blue that has silvered slightly at the muzzle, along a few of the projecting edges and surfaces and has a handful of minor handling marks and small surface blemishes here and there. The left side of the flatside frame is crisply marked, “VON LENGERKE/& DETMOLD/NEW-YORK”. The bolt and large ring hammer have retained their original dull gray finish with some darker specks of freckling along the edges and projections. The safety, rear sight slider, and extractor retain about 70-80% of the original bright fire blue with the balance turned bright. The trigger has about 60-70% of the original straw color remaining with the balance turned to a dark, pewter gray patina. The 23 groove walnut grips are numbered to the gun on the interior and are likewise in excellent shape with only some minor handling marks and surface blemishes marring the otherwise excellent original varnish finish. The action is tight and the pistol is fully functional. The pistol is accompanied by its original, numbered shoulder stock that has numerous small handling marks, as well as a with-the-grain crack at the heel of the butt and a rectangular chip missing from the lid. This is an exceptional example of a rare, VL&D marked, flatside Broomhandle with original stock that retains a high degree of original finish and would make a superb addition to any collection.
