Description:
Colt Lightning small frame slide action rifle with serial number 108. Add the high condition and you have a very rare Colt! 1st year of production for the small frame Lightning was 1887. This one was probably made in the fisrt week of production. Nice high condition gun with practically all factory orig blue remaining on the bbl. Just a few light wear marks. Receiver still has the beautiful shiny blue that Colt is so well known for. A little wear on the trigger guard and lower tang. Blue still remains on the front portion of the frame. The brass loading gate has a beautiful antique patina. Wood is also exceptional. Good fitting good condition. The only blemish to speak of is that in the upper right hand corner it was chipped and repaired with the original piece. It hardly shows. This has the early style forearm that was a single piece and almost always these are cracked. Not this one! No cracks or losses. An exceptional forearm. Adding to this is a Colt Letter stating it was furnished with Lyman sight. So this was a special order and the Lyman sight is on it. This fine gun would fit into any collection!
